  • Includes 8 Injector Cups

**Using the Correct Sealant: Loctite 620 Retaining Compound

For stainless steel injector sleeves, Loctite 620 High-Temperature Retaining Compound is strongly recommended.

Why Loctite 620?

  • ✔ Designed specifically for cylindrical press-fit assemblies

  • ✔ Rated for high-temperature diesel engine environments

  • ✔ Excellent resistance to fuel, coolant, and oil

  • ✔ Prevents sleeve movement under heat cycling

*Standard thread locker or RTV silicone is NOT acceptable and will fail.

Proper Application of Loctite 620

  1. Apply a thin, even coat of Loctite 620 to:

    • The outer surface of the injector sleeve

    • The injector bore (light coat only)

  2. Do not over-apply — excess compound can hydraulic-lock the sleeve during installation

  3. Install the sleeve immediately after application

3. Correct Sleeve Installation

  • Use a proper injector cup installation tool to ensure the sleeve is pressed in straight and to the correct depth

  • Never hammer the sleeve into place

  • Ensure the sleeve seats fully and evenly

Misalignment can cause injector damage, sealing failure, or premature sleeve cracking.

4. Cure Time Is Critical

After installation:

  • Allow Loctite 620 to fully cure for a minimum of 24 hours

  • Do not install injectors or add coolant before full cure

⏱️ Rushing this step can compromise the seal and lead to coolant intrusion into the fuel system.

Why Prep Matters on the 7.3 Powerstroke

The 7.3L Powerstroke is known for:

  • High heat cycling

  • Long service intervals

  • Coolant exposure around injector cups

Proper bore prep combined with stainless sleeves and Loctite 620 dramatically reduces:

  • Coolant-in-fuel failures

  • Injector sleeve movement

  • Repeat labor and downtime

Pro Tip

Many professional diesel builders consider stainless steel sleeves with Loctite 620 to be a lifetime fixwhen installed correctly.
